Prefrontal synaptic transmission associated with hippocampal neuronal memory reactivation
Published in Cell Reports

Our member Dr. Sasaki and his colleagues developed a new method to combine a spike recording method from hippocampal neuronal ensembles and a patch-clamp recording method from medial prefrontal neurons in awake rats. They found that medial prefrontal neurons receive larger synaptic inputs during reactivation of hippocampal cells that encoded overlapping spatial information. These results suggest a functional neurophysiological basis for the coordinated activation of spike trains across cortical circuits.
