Hippocampal neurons replay learning-related episodes

Our member Dr. Sasaki and his colleagues demonstrated that that hippocampal neurons preferentially represented salient reward-related locations as rats learned a new navigational strategy. They found that hippocampal neurons even replayed an optimized behavioral strategy that had never been performed by the animals. Their results suggest prioritized replays of significant experiences on a predictive map by hippocampal neurons.
